My New Chapter and What Comes Next
Dear RefuSHE Community,
I’ve always tried to live my life in chapters. It’s a personal motto that has helped guide the ebbs and flows of life. This month, while my chapter as an employee of RefuSHE will come to an end, my involvement will not. It will merely transform into a different capacity.
In 2018, when I stepped off the Board and into my position at RefuSHE, I was given a goal of 2-3 years to help rethink the organization’s structure and ensure its long-term sustainability. I’m extremely proud that in a little over two years, we were able to usher in the organization’s new future with our recent leadership transition. Now, confident in RefuSHE’s bright future under Geoffrey’s leadership, I can begin to focus on what comes next for me.
LIVING LIFE IN CHAPTERS
As of April 15, 2021, I will step into a consulting role with RefuSHE as we launch the search for a new Managing Director who will bring fresh and different skills to this newly formed position. I will continue to support Geoffrey in an advisory capacity and onboard the new Managing Director. I will also have the opportunity to go deeper with the RefuSHE team on two programs that I hold dear to my heart: our E-Learning & Wellness Platform and our mental health initiatives.
What’s next for me isn’t crystallized yet, as I’m just kicking off the design phase of my next adventure. However, for those who are interested in following my journey, I talk a bit about the direction my passion is pulling me towards here. I’ll give you a hint: Brain Health.
HELP US SEND A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
Speaking of brain health, I have one last ask. As a community, we have the power to change the lives of the girls and young women RefuSHE serves. This year, we are launching a campaign to raise $150,000 USD for our Mental Health Renaissance. We know the impact that mental health has on all facets of our lives. For our girls, addressing mental health isn’t optional. It is vital to their health, safety, and growth.
The best parting gift for me would be to have everyone in our community not only GIVE TODAY but consider DOUBLING their gift to help us deepen our mental health services.
I’m so proud of our leadership transition, yet I’m keenly aware that most organizations fear that taking such steps could lead to a loss of donor support. That is why I’m making this BOLD ask of you today.
Local leadership is the way forward. Let’s show the world that support will not waiver when organizations take brave steps.
If you normally give $500, please consider investing $1,000 to support the health and wellness of refugee girls, young women, and children! When you double your donation, you double your impact. Together, we can inspire a Mental Health Renaissance.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support you have shown me and RefuSHE over these past few years. It has been an honor serving RefuSHE and I’m thrilled to continue supporting this incredible organization, Geoffrey, and the entire team as it continues to carve its path forward.
Cheers,
