RefuSHE + British Chamber of Commerce

In 2017, RefuSHE was named Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) NGO partner by the British Chamber of Commerce in Kenya. We are honored by this designation. This formal partnership has afforded RefuSHE the rare opportunity to engage directly with key leaders in the Nairobi business community and to create meaningful relationships with companies such as Standard Chartered Bank, Reckitt Benckiser, Safaricom, Rotary Club of Langata, BBC, Celebrus Business Strategies, among others.

Thanks to this partnership, RefuSHE is building strong relationships with local companies whose strategic priorities align with our mission to economically empower refugee women and girls. Companies have begun to sponsor career-training and networking events for our beneficiaries, which has opened new doors for them as entrepreneurs and business women.

A highlight of this CSR partnership is RefuSHE’s 10th Anniversary Decade of Impact Gala that will be held in Nairobi on October 4, 2018, and hosted by his Excellency the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya.

CSR Engagement Highlights:

Rotary Club of Langata: On July 13, RefuSHE was invited to the Rotary Club of Langata to share about our work. Staff and young women in our programs spent time with members of the club and discussed ways that Rotary staff can get more involved.

Safaricom + Fireside: On July 25 young women in our programs were invited to a career fair focused on engineering and Information Communication Technology (ICT) careers. Fireside Group and other engineering and ICT companies, such as ihub, Extra Dimensions, Akira Chix, Data Science, and Safaricom, spoke with thirty-two beneficiaries about engineering and ICT skills and how to pursue a career within these industries.
