Leadership Transition Announcement
Dear friends,
I am writing to share a bit of news. I will be stepping down from my role as Executive Director of RefuSHE effective October 28, 2018. This was a difficult decision as RefuSHE has been one of the great joys of my life, but I know this is the right step for me and my young family. While there is never a perfect time for this type of transition, I am confident this next chapter will be an exciting one.
I am proud of all we have accomplished over the last six years. RefuSHE’s operational budget increased by 433%, we established a successful implementing partnership with UNHCR under Child Protection which consistently exceeded its annual goals, our funding base diversified with new corporate partnerships, like the Mastercard Foundation, and we established our first operational reserve fund. In 2017, we cultivated renown celebrity endorsement and in 2018 managed a seamless organizational re-brand to position RefuSHE for global impact. With the strong foundation of these successes, I believe now is the right time to welcome new leadership to usher in RefuSHE’s next phase of growth.
Both the US and Kenya Boards are committed to moving the agency toward new heights. The US board has hired an executive firm to lead the international search process. Interviews for my successor will take place in late summer and will involve both US and Kenya staff and Board leadership.
I am excited to see what is in store for my next chapter and even more excited to see what is next for RefuSHE. Change is not easy, but with change can come great transformation.
With gratitude,
Alisa M. Roadcup
Executive Director, RefuSHE
