RefuSHE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting refugee girls and young women in Kenya. We provide comprehensive support services, including safe shelter, education, case management, legal assistance, and advocacy, to empower refugee girls to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
Position Summary
The Purpose of the M&E Assistant role is to take lead in measuring the outcomes and impact of RefuSHE’s holistic model and enhance organizational M&E systems, practices, and tools. This role supports the Programs Manager in performance monitoring and reporting, including developing and implementing result-based management tools and indicators. It also involves conducting monitoring and evaluation reviews and documenting lessons learned for donor reporting and performance improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Programs Manager and programs team, develop data collection tools for RefuSHE’s holistic programming using RefuSHE’s M&E software.
Lead data collection, data cleaning, and data audit activities, and ensure RefuSHE upholds maximum data integrity.
Lead the onboarding of staff members to RefuSHE’s M&E software, Activity Info; stay apprised of newly developed software features; and provide ongoing training to staff on Activity Info’s functionality.
Track the progress of outputs and outcomes against targets, and flag to Programs Manager in advance of potential risks to not achieving intended program outcomes and targets.
Lead the updating of RefuSHE’s M&E plan in collaboration with the Programs Manager
Analyse quantitative and qualitative data from programs and synthesize findings into well-written English for internal and external reports, presentations, etc.
Support in the reporting of program data and progress against indicators for all donor reports, and the dissemination of results via presentations and reports to various audiences
Support the development of program and proposal M&E plans, including SMART indicators, baselines, and achievable and ambitious targets.
Facilitate greater understanding of M&E among program team staff by providing troubleshooting and advice as questions, challenges, and new needs emerge.
Ensure all data collection activities are conducted through a trauma-informed lens, and sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and unique experiences of the refugee young women and girls at RefuSHE.
Support the Programs Manager in development of an M&E policy for the organization as well as an overall M&E framework for the holistic model. Ensure individual program M&E plans are updated accordingly and on an annual basis or as needed when new program elements emerge.
Ensure utmost confidentiality and security of data collected and that data collection, storage, and reporting activities are compliant with Kenya’s Data Protection Act.

Other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of RefuSHE.
Key Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma in Sociology, with a specialization in monitoring and evaluation, or any other related studies from a recognized institution.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years of experience in M&E; experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations preferred.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
Experience in the design, development, and implementation of monitoring and evaluation policies, systems, and tools with staff and partners; experience with programs that support marginalized and vulnerable youth strongly preferred.
Practical expertise in developing logical/results frameworks and defining indicators using SMART/CREAM/SPICED standards
Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, and proven ability to work with data software packages such as Stata/SPSS/KOBO/Epi Info.
Confident user of MS Office software
Strong writing skills in English as demonstrated by the ability to produce high-quality reports.
